Of particular note, remember these names:
Jesus Montero, C
Austin Jackson, OF
Jose Tabata, OF
Delin Betancis, P
Mark Melancon, P
Alan Horne, P
Jeffrey Marquez, P
And in particular lets hope that Humberto Sanchez (obtained for Sheffield then underwent Tommy John surgery), who has finally started pitching in the last few weeks, passes all of the physical tests and makes the bullpen transition smoothly so he can help out down the stretch (along with Robertson). I think he's the closer of the future and another reason why Joba belongs in the rotation.

No one is the Mariano of the future until they've pitched in the majors for a significant while and even then I'd want to see a full season as a bridge or closer before beginning to saddle them with such expectations. (Which is why it would have been nice to see Joba perform as the bridge for a whole year.) And let's hope someone can come in to pitch in the stretch, since we won't have Joba available thanks to the geniuses in the front office.

Actually, no one is the Mariano of the future because there will never be another Mariano. He's the best relief pitcher of all time. That being said, if Sanchez is the CLOSER of the future, and a good one at that, I'll be ecstatic.

The bullpen has been great without Joba and he has helped stabilize a starting rotation that includes Darrell Rasner and Sidney Ponson. I know you were being sarcastic, but I think the timing and outcome ended up being perfect, in retrospect.
